Here is information for you about the newly formed “ProtectChoiceOhio” effort to place a citizen-initiated constitutional amendment to restore and protect reproductive rights and abortion access on the November 2023 statewide general election ballot

Two groups who had already committed to separate efforts to get reproductive rights in the hands of Ohio voters have now merged and set an end goal: abortion access on the November ballot.

Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom and Ohio Physicians for Reproductive Rights announced Thursday that they are joining together to “file language with the Ohio Attorney General to place a citizen-initiated constitutional amendment to restore and protect reproductive rights and abortion access on the November 2023 statewide general election ballot.”

A group of dedicated doctors came together soon after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and Ohio passed a “heartbeat bill” to create #ProtectChoiceOhio. We want to make sure that this year, Ohio voters—like those in Kansas, Michigan, Kentucky, California, and Vermont—have the opportunity to enshrine reproductive freedom and abortion access in the state constitution. Our citizen-led initiative is set on getting this essential right on the ballot as soon as possible
